The U-shaped nail called a kasugai, traditionally used to join two building materials, inspired the stone setting for this piece of jewelry. We applied that structure to secure the stones: gold parts quietly support randomly cut natural stones.

The design creates a delicate ridge that rises from the earlobe toward the center of the gemstone. The fineness of that line amplifies the presence of the substantial stone.
